Good news for coffee lovers as Dr. Adela Navarro a Cardiologist embarked on a study with intriguing findings that people who drink more coffee live longer. In his words “our findings suggest that drinking four cups of coffee each day can be part of a healthy diet in healthy people”.
The study was conducted on about 20,000 coffee lovers with average age of 37 living in the Mediterranean, they drank at least four cups of coffee every day and were followed up for ten years, during this period about 337 died. From the study it was discovered that dedicated coffee drinkers had a 64 percent lower risk of dying early unlike people who rarely drink coffee when compared. It was further proved that additional cups of coffee a day happens to be associated with 22 percent lower risk of death.
The longevity benefits of coffee were found to be the strongest for people over the age of 45, suggesting coffee might be even more beneficial for us as we age.
This findings coincide with previous study from 2015, which found that those who drank up to four cups of coffee a day had a lower risk of death, including decaf coffee.
Some studies have also linked coffee with a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes and healthy lives.
If that is the case I believe most people desire to live longer, oya lets start the coffee party, just hope it goes down well with those of us in tropical regions…
